Is this thing on?
Sprained hand of last entry turned out to be broken finger necessitating surgery. I now have a big club of bandage for a left hand, a "fashion sling" courtesy of the ER, and a pretty good war story.
Typing is difficult, so posting is expected to be light, and possibly rife with misspellings. Just wanted a short blurt to ring out 2003; despite everything, it wasn't that bad, as Chris once famously said about another year, in another place.
Posted at December 31, 2003 10:24 AMThis is the second time in blog land where someone has said I "famously said" and I've not been able to recall what they are talking about.
What are you talking about?
So you've had the surgery already? I hope things are healing nicely and you have a lovely New Year's Eve and a new year without big clubs of bandages.
Posted by: Chris Dent on December 31, 2003 01:57 PMKnit well, in the bone sense.
Posted by: qB on December 31, 2003 02:29 PMI'm sure Eric's passed along my concerned IMs but glad to hear you're on the mend.
Posted by: mike on December 31, 2003 03:51 PMI hope you'll be healed up good as new and back at the keyboard soon. Not the greatest way to spend New Year's, but I'm glad the mugging didn't leave you with worse damage than a broken finger. Anyway, at least you have an excuse for Eric to wait on you for a while :-)
New Year's Eve is low-key over here, a spouse with the flu puts the kibosh on drunken debauchery.
Did I mention I love the cat on the iBook photo?
Happy New Year to both of you and all the feline friends!!
Posted by: Laurie on December 31, 2003 11:55 PMThanks everyone!
Chris's remark was made at a party in Bton, NYE 94 maybe? ("Here's to 1994: it wan't that bad.") It was probably at the apt. of Chris and Chris, with all of the usual suspects and friends of the time. It was not the kind of remark that brought down the house, but I always remembered it. (Maybe no one else heard it; in that case, "famously" is overstating it a bit.)
Posted by: Anne on January 1, 2004 11:17 AMI'm really sorry to hear about your run-in with the mugger, but I'm happy you emerged relatively unscathed. Heal well and take care.
Posted by: Alice on January 2, 2004 11:30 AMQuite shocking to read of your bad encounter and subsequent surgery. Hope all goes well, and best wishes for '04.
