The Wanderings

I've been posting link-action more than thought-action here of late - though each link is a retroactive or predictive thought, I maintain.

Today's NYT contains not one, not two, but three pieces on the immigrant experience as it relates and interacts with the festive season here in the US. All are recommended.

  • Luis Urrea on the direct immigrant experience of the holiday, between privation and hope.
  • Ruben Martinez on the ongoing changes in US interactions with our immigrant experience, and the troubled nature of hospitality.
  • Jennifer Medina on La Posada, the ritualized search for the manger reenacted

As long as one avoids the pieces about the US Exchange Rates and Deficits, and the potential crash in housing value.... The times makes for a nice eve read.
