Citizen Journalism?

Like, I have this thing to write? And I'm, like, on deadline? And I can't seem to find my phonebook, so I can't actually look some stuff up? And it's, you know, kinda cold outside and stuff.

Thank goodness for livejournal. 'journal is for 'journalism!

for the IDS

Happily, facts were found.

Well, if major national dailies are doing it too, I guess it isn't too surprising coming from the IDS.

I think my issue with the appeal was the implied laziness. In the MeFi piece cited, the WaPo did make note that this was discussion in an online community. Will Larry mention in his piece that he couldn't remember the name of a DVD store and - instead of using the yellow pages or walking the 4 blocks from Ernie Pyle Hall to the square he just posted on LiveJournal?

Also in the MeFi thread, other journalists have outed themselves in threads - but look at the risk - a pileon of "MSM! OMG! DeadTree!"...

Of course, rereading Larry's blog, he's got a lot of online exposure comfort. So maybe this is the NuJournalism.
